    Kriegsmarine compass for review

    Hello!

I am reviewing this compass, KM-marked.
It's rather pig piece of equipment, 40cm width of the box and some 25kg of weight.

I would say the box is not original to the compassas I doubt such heavy piece of equipment was ever meant to be held in a such wooden box. It must be made by the previous owned, purpose-made.

But I am interested to know about the compass markings.

    What do you think?

I have a 20 kg imperial navy compass in a very similar box. The box is well marked and undoubtedly the original box, very similar to this in your post.

No, the compass in the link that you posted has a Marine number. It's shade but there is!

Have you idea why the compass of this topic has not the marine number? I think It's original 100% and has the right KM mark, but not the number.... Very strange thing... have you hypotheses?

              Thanks

Can somebody tell me why ther is not a Marine Number on the first compass of the topic?
Is it original? Or it never was assigned to a ship?
                Thanks

Hi.. Which number you are referring too ?
IMO a very nice compass in its original box.

                    Regards

I'm reffering at number at number after the gotic letter "M" . It is thew Marine Number (not fabric number)
                      Have you idea why?
