Kriegsmarine jackets and tunics size stamps

Hello, I'm working in anew project and I have some doudts about how the sizes were marked on KM tunics and jackets. There were different ways to stamp these on garments, maybe you can help me to be sure about the meaning of them.

    1. Depot stamp with sizes. IMO the meaning is: up in the triangle back length (from shoulder to shoulder) and down left chest size and right sleeve length

    2. Sizes stamp without depot identification: first line from left to right, back length and chest size, midle line right sleeve length, and lower line tunic length and ??????

I have a problem with this last one, I can not find a meaning for it. In all the garments I have seen with this stamp always in 10 number lower than the chest size, so could me the maximun and minimun chest size to fit the jacket well? Really don't know, any idea?

      Hi,
IMHO 41 should be back width and not back lenght.
My KM brown tunic is marked with
      43 66
      96
      71 43

So it's back width, back lenght, chest size, arm lenght and collar width on my example (just verfied by measuring)

Try to match your numbers with measurements.

Christian, I have done, I tried to match the sizes with the jacket, but I can not close that one. This is from an affenjacke, the regular 4 pockets tunics had the same configuration of sizes than the Heer tunics and feldbluses, and I have no problem with those.

You are right, is not the back lenght but the back width, from shoulder to shoulder.

          Sizes

          Hi Eduardo,
I pulled out three of my Affenjacken and measured them.

My numbers are nearly same sizes as yours. It is small jacket so the upper row right number can not be the chest size.

Here is what I found out.

40 shoulder-width 92 width of the jacket at lower seam
          62 arm-lenght
50 lenght middle back 82 chest width

I think because of the special fit of the Affenjacke, the lower seam width is much important as it should be sitting nicely around the hips.
I have attached a pic how I measured it. All other measurements verifies this, done on three jackets.

          Regards
          Christian

Christian, thank you, you should be right, I will chack mine in that way, so all the affenjacke has the length of the lower seam 10 cm lomger that the chest size.
