KM Kriegsmarine side cap badges uboat viking ship

This side cap badge is pictured in the book "headgear of Hitler's Germany" by Jill Halcomb and Wilhelm Saris. Does anyone knows what the inscription 1K (I think?) stands for? thx

Are you sure it's from an U-Boat? I can not find this type in the books.

The book indicates that this badge was in use on U-511, that is all I have at this moment.

Hi,
The Hoegel book about emblems shows swords and scale for U511.

It shows some boats with viking ships as emblems, but different from yours.

exactly, that is why I posted it here and asked for help of our WAF community!

just one thing: the book Wappens and mailing gives conning tower symbols, sometimes these were different in style from teh cap badges!
