    Kriegsmarine mantel/overcoat on E stand

I was wondering about the following item on E Stand. Am I imagining or does it appear to button up like a Female coatl? I'm not passing any judgement on the coat. It looks good. This is the second one i've seen that buttoned up like a female garment and just wondered if this was typical with KM items.

The following picture almost looks like a cut down mantel or modified Pea Coat.

Jim, in my experience many KM garments, peacoats, great coats, ...., were made with the two rows of button holes, so they could be buttoned on the right or on the left. So IMO this is a nice original coat wrong buttoned.

Mystery solved, many thanks. Was there any logic behind the two rows or were they meant to be worn by females? There are certain Navy Garments ie 2 lower pocket tunic in field grey and the blue 44 uniform that were manufactured for women only. Then we have what may be km male M33 and M40 tunics being worn by women. Then there are pics of what appears to be pea coats worn by women. I'm trying to think through a draft book in my head and I'm just trying to get my hands around KM Helferin uniforms. Thank you. Jim

        Hi,

I am right to assume that the lady in the above picture is wearing an uniform for "fun", means her boyfriends of husbands one ?

          I agree.
I believe there was no chance of her officialy wearing that combination of uniform as female auxiliaries wore complete different uniforms.

It's not unusual to see females in boyfriend's uniforms, in fact.

I buttoned it wrong, Iam in the deathroes of a kidney infection and just went with it as the pic. The overcoat is immaculate.

              Cheers
