KM Celestial globe

I am proud to show you a new piece in my collection. It all happen suddenly when I was informed about it yesterday, and I have arranged a trade for a few pieces with fair market value.

The globe map is in very good shape, but on the top few pieces are missing so it will need a proper restoration (that's the reason why previous owner turned the globe upside-down on these photos).

OK, so after I put a hand on one of these magnificent pieces which are, as Michel said, top rare, I'd like to make a reference thread out of this one, in which I will put all known KM celestial globes which I can find.


Let's start with Michel's one, presented on various occasions, a piece of magnificent collection he shared with us:

These two are from former Atlantik-Pirat collection:

It has a kind of a plastic piece on top of a globe so if it's original it is not KM as described, I believe.
I tend to believe that the piece is replaced by white plastic one.

With the one I know that is in forum member's collection and is not shown here that makes total of 11 pieces with large brass frame (like mine) and 5 with a small frame (together with the ones I posted below).

After I reviewed all photos and available info (not much, unfortunately), I dare to say that the "large" ones with large brass frame and with lid are late models, whilst "small" ones are early models.

Of course, that can also be a completely different models and that both were used for different purposes and on different types of vessel.

With that I also mean a somewhere mentioned use of similar device by Luftwaffe, so I'd like to start the discussion about these great items.
