Hello to all!

Which producer produced the large metal badge (sleeve badge) of the Kriegsmarine? Has anyone seen such production catalogues for 1939?

Probably some of the producers from Luedenscheid. I have had a badge for a Marineartilleriemaat with the mark of Assmann on the reverse.

I saw Assman mark opn one, but I do not have it.

I had some loose metal insignia but there was no maker's mark on it.
Some later insignia has aluminum metal devices, and maybe we could find maker's mark on them, who knows?

Most of the "samples" for the metal branch- and rankbadges were made in the 1920-30s by the experienced metalworkers Juncker and Schwerin. I have several documents in my collection of sources from the Bundesarchiv.
Here for the 6 samples to be sealed by the Reichsmarineamt for the new introduced coastal-artillerie branch from Schwerin.
Always one sealed "specimen" was given to Marinebekleidungsamt Kiel and Wilhelmshaven, one remained in Berlin.
Mass production was shurely made by a number of other producers, here the picture with the Assmann-"A" reverse on a coastal artillerie maat, struck from brass.

Wow, Markus, that Schwerin receipt is fascinating! Thanks for posting. Does that address look like Charlotten-Strasse 4? I've always wondered where Schwerin was located. But unfortunately it looks like today there are four different Charlottenstrassen in Berlin -- do you know which it would be?

there are several documents from Schwerin with this adress.
I am not confirm with the topographic of Berlin in the 30s, but SW means south-west and perhaps you can google an old map of Berlin to locate it

Schwerin produced a lot of high quality insignia for the imperial, Reichs- and Kriegsmarine and for shure, this was the reason why the OKM ordered so many decorations during the war from Schwerin.

Thanks Marcus. Yes Basti once posted some documentation he'd found outlining the pre-war order and supply mechanism for the KM. If I remember correctly OKM gave orders for items to Schwerin and Juncker who would then send back manufactured samples for approval -- once approved the final design would then go back to them and to other firms for mass production. So Schwerin and Juncker were big players for KM design and production.

Perhaps Basti could be prevailed upon to post his information again in this forum section since it would be very pertinent to this discussion.
