Unknown KM sleeve insignia

This piece was picked up by a 5th Army Vet who fought in Italy. The shield is muli-piece construction and very thick.

Welcome any thoughts to what this insignia represents.

Looks Like a British Patch. Try posting in Commenwealth area.

British......White shield white yellow cross, on blue/black (normally rectangular) backing....trimmed in this case.

British 8th Army- which served in N. Africa, Sicily, & Italian Campaigns....so it fits.
