Very interesting & thanks for joining this discussion.
To be honest I was not really concerned with trying to research this when I first got it because it thought it was probably a no hoper.

The suggestion that this may be a service number seems most logical and your comments are appreciated

Did you by chance sell this to member Henrik? I found a discussion on the tunic posted by him a couple of years ago.

Don't think it's a name though.

But the other way around could be usefull, take the 37 reciepents, narrow down by rank. Try to fixteir st.r.no and you can exclude those...
      Thanks Michiel,

Hard to say what the numbers are for certain but the possible computations are very limited.

I do think ending in 31 is almost certain and references would need to be made with other numbers. This however being some way forward is academic without a reference. I do not know if such a reference is possible to access or if such records are available?

The possibility of the Honour roll was just conjecture on my part in trying to explain some logical reason for the holes in the ribbon. Which being the case would make it much easier.

With regard to DKIG I can narrow it down to a lot less than 80 but that again is limited by the information I was able to find. Was stabsobermaschinist the final rank? Was it awarded at that rank or earlier?

The quality of the material & tailoring is very good and indicative of being earlier rather than late. Though not heavily worn there is evidence around the collar and cuff that it was most certainly worn. this is also evident from the wear to the markings.

The punture marks on the robbon are not for a Honor Rolll Clasp. Those prong holes cameto or into the white stripes. I have seen fake clasps from the 1060's with a central pin. Perhaps someone "dressed" this up at one time? LRRP, were those ribbon holes present when you owned it?
For pencil writing infrered will pull out the markings so either some IR goggles or IR light will show up the writing for you.

Yes, the ribbon holes where present. I agree with you, they are not for an EBS.
I don't think anyone tried to dress it up either, to be honest. Just two small holes in the EKII ribbon, for some reason.

Is this tunic shown in Torpedo los!? On one of the first pages (not on a period picture, but as it is)?

Having made a comparison there are several points that I can identify that confirm this is the same tunic. Thanks for posting Michiel.
