    could someone tell me the difference between the crossed anchors and the winged "shell", on coastal artillery shoulderboards please ?

    My understanding is that crossed anchors yellow embroidered on green straps are for KM men on land duty (switching their blues for the Field Gray KM uniform). Example: like commmunication men wearing green uniforms at a land based KM radio transmission station...
    and the tellow embroidered (or metal NCO) shell devise is specifically for coastal battery personnel...

      For me crossed anchors are for soldiers in land based training units. After they got specific boards when they were switched to specific units like coastal artillery, radio, etc...
