Restore Uboat binocular lenses

I've got a binocular and telescope expert lined up to restore the lenses in my uboat binoculars he says the cement has gave in and is blocking and is distorting the image. My question is like as goes for much collectables, would restoring the binoculars hurt the collectable value or increase it? He is giving me a really good rate for fixing it ($250) because he is impressed By my interest at such a young age. So the question is, to restore or not to restore the lenses.

Restoring binocular

Restoring your binocular is the right thing to do. It will enhance its value and allow you to use it. It will not detract from its originality provided your repairman does not mess up the screws and does not remove the coating on the lenses. If he does not know how to cleanthe lenses without removing the coatings go elsewhere. Good luck.
