I'm not a fan of the catch either: these safety catches are usually seen on costume jewellery, not TR summer uniform eagles. Eagle details/features are reminiscent of a gold "A" (Assmann) marked eagle I have but my eagle is massive (solid back ) zink with a very different mounting system. Interesting to note "Collector's Guild" site has had the same identical eagle for sale for quite a while now...
