          Hi there!

Difficult say for sure if come from WWII or not and if was used by some kriegsmarine crewmemeber. For sure it is not a official supply.
By my side I think that was made after the war ad 'upgraded' with anchor buttons...

          Cheers!

It also looks like the "open cockpit" long flight jackets used in the 1920/1930's, it do not look like a gov. contract KM leather KM piece, the tailor/manufacturer tag in the inside make me think this....maybe a private purchase "upgrade" piece or early post war.

While it's a great looking civilian jacket I have my doubts.

That the jacket only has KM shoulder board buttons added just does not seem right with what I've personally owned, handled, seen or have references of. Fishermen also wore these in brown and black and it should be noted that the maritime style of this jacket greatly influenced the style of KM leathers not the other way around just as the leather greatcoat style had it's civilian counterpart.

Were it me, I would go with a 100% unquestionable issue item rather than what may or may not be part of a wartime clothing drive.

This is just my take on it.

That's what I recognize in this coat. It is eeriely familiar with the coat that
Robert Redford wore in 'The Great Waldo Pepper'.
