All I can contribute is the markings on the inner sweat diamond about the supposed maker:
August Geiger, Mützenfabrikation, Danische Str. 24 Kiel, a company founded in 1872
Under the lighthouse symbol it says "Eingetr. Schutzm." which is the abbreviation for "Eingetragene Schutzmarke" or registered trademark

That looks like the same plastic sweat diamond identified by stonemint as Bundesmarine in this thread:

I'm curious to know more about the "Kiel" tally. Could it have been a generic "display talley" for in the shop?

          Best regards,
          ---Norm

The Kiel tally is a stumper for myself as well. Hopefully MarineHJ, or CSForrester, or John Robinson can post some more info. I have nothing in my references for this?

Hmmm. Not sure what to make of the Kiel tally. I will research it a bit. Could be early postwar Bundesmarine maybe, but just not sure right now.

                  Kiel tally

                  Hi Chaps,

thanks for making me aware of this thread. Well, to say the truth at the start: never came across this tally before. However, I'm more or less convinced that the tally is not Naval-related at all but some kind of souvenir. I don't have much of a clue about caps but I have a very odd feeling to say the least - the "worst" is the handwriting "K.M. Mürwik Kiel 1939". Mürwik is a district of the town of Flensburg, about 150 Kilometers away from Kiel.
The tally looks post 45 indeed. This you can recognise a little bit on the "rough" looking letters, I mean the sideway distance between the individual loops. It cannot be any military tally i.m.o. because there's no further designation given w h a t unit in Kiel.

Well, to make it short: hands off, this is in my personal opinion no period KM cap with some odd tally.

                  Rgds
