my opinion the u in Mürwik should have an umlaut and without the accompanying e following.

      E ~

Nice original Tally, don't worry about the missing umlaut. Often done to add the e.

While this is from WW1, here is a cap tally from the light cruiser SMS Coeln with a charcoal drawing of a sailor wearing the exact same spelling. However his dog tag has Coln with the umlauts over the o. For the Kriegsmarine, they will go with the Kreuzer Koln, umlauts over the o.

The tally at the top is original.

                  Hello Nick,
I think you have a good tally.
The spelling Meurwik was in use during the interwar years.
More than likely changed when taken over by the BundesMarine
Under is a picture from Helmut Weitze's site showing a tally from the Reichsmarine priced at 25 euros
                  All the best
                  Doug

again my reason inter-war years that the Schule during the war yeasrs had the talleyband with the umlauts, wonder if we can find the talley photographically during just pre- or war time era without the umlauts pictured in the old schrift ? As I do have a talley of the Schule in my collection and hae seen only examples of Mürwik as presented without displayed as ue.

                      make sense hopefully ?

                            Hi
Can tell me anybody if the MARINESCHULE MÜRWIK cap tally with gothic script was used too in the early years of bundesmarine until 1960 and so if is possible for early bundesmarine, how can me the difference beetween both?
Recently I purchased one and I will be posting pics when is delivered to me

                            Thanks in advance
