    Korvetenkapitan Meyhoeffer's Tunic

    Here is the tunic of a Naval Officer by the name of Franz Meyhoeffer who had his tunic made when he was a Korvettenkapitan.

    Her was a Naval Ordnance Officer of Light Flak Artillery.

    He was also a Sperrofficer whose duty it was to strategically position Flak Batteries in order to barrage incoming aircraft.

    Note that other than the Krim Shield, the other decorations did not come with the tunic but were added for photographic effect to fill the tailored loops on the tunic.

    Also note that from the time Meyhoeffer served as a Korvettenkaptan, and the time it was sold by Jan Kube in 1989, Admirals stripes were added for some purpose.

    Here is an Officers list from 1943 identifying him and his position at the time...........

                        Well, either this fellow Meyhoeffer was a real superstar (since he doesn't appear in the Admiral listings that I looked at hurredly a minute ago), or the tunic was made initially for him, but instead converted and used by someone else, or he received a massive promotion after the war by either a dealer or a film studio. Not much in-between.

                          Hello Ron,
                          This jacket was made when mr. Meyhoeffer were Kptltn (Kapitanleutnant) so he has made a big and quick promotion during his navy career if he has ended with the rank off Admiral sorry but this sounds not plausible.

                          Korvettenkapitan= K.Kpt

                          Best regards Christian

                            Yes of course, it is not possible for him to be an Admiral, which I am well aware, however it is a nice period tunic with many interesting features that someone at some time added the stripes.

                            Appreciate your knowledgeable comments

                            Best regards,

                              It is most assuredly a real tunic. Only the period and purpose of the admiral tresse addition would be in question. Did Meyhoeffer survive the war?
