Hi Ron,

Very similar to your cap seen in this photo from Trieste in 1944. The officer on the right is Robert Wanner who wrote the music and lyrics to a popular Navy song at the time called "Wenn das Schifferklavier an Bord ertönt". The song was bought by Just Scheu and used in the musical movie "Wunschkonzert".
