Post #41 (closeup of the Kreuzer Karlsruhe tally) looks like typical Metallfaden.

As for the material of the two "cotton" tallies, I believe Kunstseide or "imitation silk" is actually a mercerized cotton, that is, cotton that has been chemically treated to give it more lustre and strength.

Yep, I agree in that it is cotton that has been treated in such a way it no longer really looks like cotton thread. Which is why they came up with the idea it was artificial silk to describe it.

So I am agreeing with Markus on this.

Hi Frank,
Just saw that, dachboden fund! Perhaps if he found the missing KM standarte it would be more of discovery and worthy of a price. Interesting 40 euro postage for such a lightweight item, perhaps the ship comes with it as well????

I'm sure another more reasonable price tally will come up if patient.
