    Kriegsmarine tellermutze

    Hello,

I'd like opinion on this tellermutze. It has number "59" stamped on the inside (middle of top silk), under the sweatband it's not visible what's below, as the support band is covered with the silk (the same one which is under the top).

    A few pics:

OK, I'll begin, so I'd appreaciate if someone can follow with the comments.

The sweatband seems unused. Place where the eagle and cocarde have been is clearly visible, and the cap top looks nicely worn but in very good condition.

Well i'm not enthusiastic about this one.

All standard navy caps had removable tops.

So this should be a private purchase cap.

I'm fairly sure i noticed this one on ebay. And all other caps from this seller had the eagle removed and had the same sort of imprints where the eagle was.
The leather sweatband does not look from the proper material and the KM captally does look aged to me (Strange brown colouring)
Also the cloth from the cap looks different (thicker?) from the navy doeskin cloth.

It is difficult to see this on my screen and not having it in hand though.

I've had a lot of original DD-caps in hand and I would certainly pass on this one.

Well that's my humble opinion anyway.

                Cheers!

Further more I believe that all navy eagles for DD-caps where mounted on stickpins.

Yes, eagle mount here was different it seems, so I suspect it's fake.

I'm pretty sure this is a fake. Will proceed with collecting more opinions. Also, the tally is black on the reverse side, so no original for sure ;-).

That bastard is selling these caps under few names on eBay: bulli5678 , brigade39 and who knows which else.

All caps have the same eagle/cockade pattern at the front, so that's why I think that's the same person or a group.

I noticed these too at ebay and always stayed away from them.

Although i really wanted one these offers gave me not that right feeling. Everytime the same pics and cap....how many does he have ??

Forgot to say that the last one i saw on ebay germany went for 141€, so i think a few more collectors had bad thoughts about it

I hope i can show my purchased DD cap at the end of the week here, it´s just on the way to me White removable top and for sure an original one with makers mark. I waited long but it was worth it

I saw two different (size mark 57 and 59), but I can tell those are the same caps.

I know who bought one of those, so I'll warn the owner about that. He can give them low rating, so hopefully that will distract others from buying.

Unfortunately, we cannot do much with those bastards.

I know that the learning curve is very long and strange, but I always feel sorry not because I spent money on bad thing. It's not about the money but about the fact that I could pay half of the real thing
