That is why I asked the question in the first place. All KM medical patches in my collection have no black eye or red tongue. A quick look on the web showed medical patches with black eye and red tongue as Heer patches, including grey patches.

See scan. The two patches at left are described as Heer while the two at right which are part of my collection have been described as KM. Did KM medical patches also have black eye and red tongue?

    Cheers,
    Larry

Larry, I am unsure about that, but maybe our friends who collect KM as a focus field can tell us. and where do we find the original description for this..?..

Here are the ones in my collection that, according to what is said above, should be KM field gray except the top right one.
Can I be sure they are..?..

      Medical insignia..

      Hello all,

I just could not let go on this subject, so I went over all my insignia.

What I can say is, that I meet mostly snakes without red tongue and none with a black eye. That said, I did meet some with red eyes AND red tongue as you can see below.

So what will be the conclusion here..?..

That the KM medical insignia is as above mentioned..?..

Then I can safely say that my patch is KM?

Yury, this is interesting. These medical insignia is VERY much like the WW2 insignia. Easy to be fooled.

Hans, is why I never take in a collection of medical patches on which the snake has no red tongue and eyes.

                          Kriegsmarine NCO career unknown insignia

The German Imperial Navy (Kaiserliche Marine) had a red V on two crossed anchors for "Vermessungsoffiziers" Officers.

It is possible that the badge is a rank bagde worn by a Artilleriewart in the Kaiserliche Marine. I haven't been able to find a photo of the badge. I have only been able to find a discrition of the badge in a German book.
