Hi, I wonder if I am right in assuming that career insignia in tan/ khaki for the tropical uniform was not made? In the wartime pictures that I have seen so far I have not seen any being worn on the tropical uniform, perhaps it was considered a working dress?

In Angolia's Die Kriegsmarine - Uniforms and Traditions vol. 2 he states that the "W" patch for Wallmeister was worn by KM personel who were fortress engineers. It is the gold thread version on dark green-blue cloth.

Can anyone confirm this.

Correction: They are wearing Vermessungsdienst (Surveying Service) patches.
