Hello, fellows. I know this isn't the proper nomenclature, but I please hope you won't mind me asking how this e-bay item checks out? my knowledge is limited withese hats and tallies. I does appear to be of a nice quality by my research sofar.

Thank you kindly for taking the time to look.

The tally is a good one although not a particularly hard one to find since the ship was in commission so long. Therefore not expensive relative to many other tallies of the period.

I would call the rest of the cap a frame and to me, it does not add much to the value. In order to complete the cap, you would need all the hardware and a period cover that fit it, not so easy.

Personally, I would only bid up to the value of the tally and let it go at that. For valuation, go to the Weitze site and see what the dealers are asking these days for it IMO.

                  Hi guys,

I agree with John, nice original tally!
Listen bid up to the price of the tally And if you get it and then
Are lucky enough to collect the white or blue cap for it plus insignia at the right
Price then you maybe able to create yourself a cheap cap for what could be an
Expensive piece. Depends if your patient to wait and build or want a full piece straight
                  Away???
Part of the fun of collecting! Good luck
                  Best
                  JustinC :-)

The current price for this tally/crown is 26,50 at Ebay....still a fair price I'd say.

Thanks everyone I appreciate your comments.

Even though I'm an Army guy I still have an interest in KM items.
I was born and raised in L.A. Harbor and have Merchant Marine papers since 18 years old.

I worked on some tug boats for a short bit when I got out of the Army for a few years. Otherwise I was born into it by blood, many of my family have worked/retired as Merchant Seaman and Longshoreman for generations as well as Soldiers .

                      Thanks again

Markings on Donald Duck cap Kriegsmarine Tellermütze

                        http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...highlight=erel

In the pictures above the marking is G for Grösse = the size, which seems obvious. But then what is the meaning of the "K", in the K55 stamp?

                          Very nice original cap tally.

But I have a question for Justin and others tally collectors. Is it the correct cutting size for a regulamentar wearing cap tally? Or this one was only put recently together with this crown ?

                          Best Regards,

                          Ricardo

I've been looking for one of these! I've got a White top tellermuetze with the spare blue top/crown. I've been looking for the bottom to put the crown on!
