    KM Lanyard Question

    Hi

The extent of my KM lanyard knowledge is 13/14 knots is good.

Acorns are for rifles or heavy MGs, black and silver differentiate level

    Shells are arty (Heer)

Shells with wings are CA,,torpedoes etc

    4 small knots on bottom

Shield is acquired at higher level,,Level 4 I believe

My question is, would a black and silver acorn be worn at the same time as seen on my lanyard, and of course did CA recieve acorns for their riflemen, I would assume so.

    Thanks,
    Dion

PS I did not know this forum as of recent existed! I am glad its here!

Hello Dion, I think that is possible. Here you have a good reference.

        Hi Dion,

Eduardo has already steered you towards the reference thread. It's a good question about the wear of two acorns and I've pondered this question for a long time because of my Dad's picture in which he wears two acorns.

However, I think it doesn't make sense to wear a black and a silver acorn level at the same time, unless one had a groove engraved around it indicating machine gun proficiency which these don't. I should have listened more closely to my Dad's explanation when I had a chance but I seem to recall he said you would earn additional acorns for each time you shoot at a certain level but when you had three you would earn the silver acorn and after three of those the gold. He even mentioned something about the silver intertwined cord for later accomplishments but I didn't listen closely at the time.

So anyway, I believe my Dad's photo is showing two shiny black acorns and not a black and a silver, and I believe the other photo of him shooting is the occasion for winning the second one. He's lies on the wooden pallet and shoots at the target 100 m away.

        Best regards,
        ---Norm

            Hi Norm

I had seen the photo of your Dad wearing 2. I think in the case of mine maybe after the war the vet just clipped both on to the lanyard for safe keeping.

              Hello Norm,

Outstanding pics, and a very informative thread as well. My lanyard had thirteen knots and one acorn, the bigs were rather iffy about it, so i sent it back.
