Ron, IMO could be the Linienschiff Schleswig Holstein, but also the Linienschiff Schlesien.

I'm 99.9% confident it's the Linienshiffe Schleswig-Holstein. Notice the Adler near the fantail (I don't believe Schlesien had this). There's some great footage of this ship hammering the port of Gdynia at the outbreak of the war.

..it's the ''Schleswig-Holstein'' Ron ...can tell by the number of port-hole windows at the Bow!

          regards,
          PJ

True, but that is a stern shot of the ship in question at the top.

Based on those fotos I vote for the "Schlesien" - look the position of the port-hole windows over the eagles´ wings.

Is that a Portugese flag she's flying?

Very good question - thought about that flag, too. Once it is identified, should be quite easy to find out wich ships went there for a visit.

The following year, Schlesien toured the Americas; in March 1937 the ship stopped in Halifax, Nova Scotia.[30] Later that year in December, Schlesien stopped in Mar del Plata, Argentina.[31] In 1938, the ship visited Samaná Bay in the Dominican Republic.[32]

I believe you are 100% correct, as I found more pictures from the group, and this was among them............

As has been said by Gran Sasso, if using the porthole windows it is without doubt the Schlesien. The windows above and below the eagle correspond to this ship.
