That is a very nice original BeVo KM enlisted man's breast eagle with a weaving flaw! Every once in a while the machine made flaws in these BeVo eagles. I just saw an example in a Heer eagle on another forum. Great to find these and it makes collecting these eagles even more fun.

Fred has hit on what really is the essence of collecting eagles IMO. The unusual is what we hope to find after we have collected for awhile. Once you have collected the "standard" variety, and have collected nice conditioned examples, you naturally become more interested in the variants. These original examples are what eventually push most eagle collector's buttons. Congratulations in finding this "bad" bird.

Here is a good looking Breast Eagle for everyones reviews! Any ideas as to who might have made this one are welcome!

                  Very nice bird Jason

One of the most common types but my favorite summer bird design. The gold type exists in 2 versions; an earlier fire gilded tombac version with welded hardware and the cupal version with crimped hardware like yours which comes with either a polished finish or a matter oreangy gold colour like the 2 nd one attached. The second (crimped) type also comes in silver.

Only a few types are marked (Assmann, Schwerin, Maedicke, RK) so I've been trying to ID the maker of this type for a long time too without any luck so far so I just call it "Type 1". Let me know if you have better luck IDing the maker

                  Cheers & Happy new year!
