      Please take a photo of the tally full length so we can see it end to end. Could you provide the length from the first letter to the end and the last letter to the the end.

        Yes it does have a shorter left end and measures 18cm from the t (Scharnhorst), and 42cm from the S (Schlachtschiffe), so as suspected the tally is mostlikely another HMS Belfast copy.

        Another item destined to be returned to the original seller.

          Hi Guys,

          The font details of this one definitely match the H.M.S. Belfast gift shop reproduction, and are different from the genuine cotton examples posted to date.

              This is the so called HMS Belfast fake. Note the short end on one side, typical of the RN style side bow tallies.

              KM tallies were even.

              Note: Any cellon Scharnhorst tallies that are less than 100 cms and cut uneven or even to the length of the short end, you must avoid.

              That means some period Scharnhorst cellon tallies would not be acceptable also since you could not tell the difference.
