          Hi Mike,

Dont you love the "short"commenters without explanation.

Anyway, for what its worth, i dont see any issues.
          Comparable with my shortened version.

          regards KK

Thanks for the help--I have no problems finding out something is "bad" - but not to fond of the "short" no explanation. Just one of my pet peeves I guess.. The great thing of this forum are the collectors who help other collectors learn about items they may not be versed in.. Mike

                hey Mike

Not one of the guys that said that is was good, commented why it was good.
IMO it is a wrong tallie and you can detect it by looking at the sharp right edge of the letter E, check out the other threads and compare your E with confirmed genuine E's from in photo albums, on pictures and pillow sewn on pieces of VETs and what will you see: rounded right side edge on all these E's! That is how I discovered the difference between real and fake.

Did you just make that theory up?

                  Absolute BS.

The clue is in the rear construction and if you think looking at the shape of letters as a definer of reproduction then you havent looked at enough .
..... and yes, ive looked at many photos and examples.

Heres a couple of threads with tallys with sharp edge "E",s

                  http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ht=donald+duck

Also checkout the Collectors guild section of period photos and many of the caps visible have sharp edged "E",s

As for referencebooks" Nazi Ragalia" by E W W Fowler shows two period photos with sharp edged "E",s.

Also Brian Davis "Badges and insignia of the third reich"

                    Cap Tally

                    Hi Mike,
I like the tally too. Here is my example.

                    Regards,

The tally that started this thread was a correct and good version. I find nothing wrong with it.
This is a beautiful metalfaden one with nice details and still has it's shimmer.

                      Regards,

I agree original but Metalfaden? Why is there fraying to the threads then as in cotton?

You know, I have the same thing with my Pzschiff Graf Spee that I acquired from Argentina.
                          Nothing that overly concerns me.

                          Regards,

Note the thread on the 2nd "F" for Panzerschiff. There is a more detailed photo of this in the tagged thread for reference on the KM forum.

I was refering to the rear of the Tally and the fraying of the thread, Metal thread is intact so it must be another construction then?

You might be correct. This might not be a metalfaden version. From the obverse and the bright photo it appeared to be shimmering/reflective like a metalfaden version.
I have seen this happen as well. Portions of where the wrap of the thread has been worn or removed and the underneath thread is present and can start to unravel.

                              Regards,
