      Navy Cap Tally

Hello, I think this could be a WWI or WWII but someone has cut it down and resewn the back end portions over the back of the embroidery, can anyone tell me if this is a good tally, just by looking at the front. It might be a impossible.
I searched and looked at many tally's and it looks right and does not glow. I would hate to have to pull it apart to find out, but it also could be suspicious. It came out of a frankenstein grouping. But nothing in the grouping was a reproduction.
      Thanks
      Jack

not WWII for sure, but did find this on the net

was a German ocean liner of the Norddeutscher Lloyd (NDL) shipping line. She is notable for a number of things, including being the first German ship to win the Blue Riband and the first passenger ship (although acting as an armed merchant cruiser at the time) sunk in World War I.

If it is period WWI I cannot say, all I can say it is no where near WWII KM tallies construction

This is a pre WWII Geman merchant marine tally.

              Thank You John,
I was contacted by a memember who said it was a good pre WWII and probably closer to WWI tally.
And to Trance_Eyes, it is attached to a end piece, or a blank portion of one, and you can not see the embroidery on the back, after closer inspection I realized it was done like that because it was falling apart and the backing has preserved it. Sorry I posted to the wrong forum. But the ship was used in WWII as guns were added for the war. But it was sunk.
