this maybe the wrong forum for this, but I thought you guys here may know more about it...
this exact eagle isn't mine, but I have one identical... is it legit?
I'd always believed that it was a 'possibly made in france' example
have they been proved either way?

Looks legit, though well worn. Try the Uniform & Insignia section where there are a few already posted.

The obverse details look weak, and the reverse has what looks like signs of casting. To me not promising. Regards, Ron.
