At a gun show last weekend I got this nice looking KM Diver qualification and rank sleeve patch .

Hi Doug, A ships diver patch!!, Yours appears to be made of synthetic material, not sure if its original or if they also made them in this material? Here are a few pics of a woolen patch for reference -

Trance : Thanks for the great information .
The diver's helmet etc, is just wool thread --not synthetic .
It is a very clean patch and my photo was taken in bright sun light !.
Backside has a 2nd linen covering all the way across , it is sewn-in with the edge trim .

The badge from Trances collection is a pre- or early wartime example. They were hand embroidered and stifened on linen. Most have a manufacturer stamp and an inventory stamp of a Marinebekleidungsamt, starting with W or K and a date. Mainly seen manufacteres were St.Th. (Steinert & Thiele) T + H (Troltsch & Hanselmann) and S.S. (forgotten, a company in Kiel).
Dougs is from wartime production with new materials and machine-stiched. It is worn and washed but in good condition. Material may be cotton or viskose, "Zellwolle". These badges are rare seen with inventory stamps, there were more important jobs to do during the war then to stamp each badge......
Nice badges, not easy to find.
