    Kriegsmarine cap tally.

Hope this is the right place to ask.
Cap tallies named to ships - what is a good prie to pay for one ?
No doubt it may chnage with the ship involved.
Over the past year or two I have obtained one for Admiral Scheer and Admiral Hipper , both full length and not reproduction , not thinking of selling them , just curious.
had I been quicker of the mark I would also have ones named to Graf Spee , Scharnhorst and Gneisenau but "regrets ...I have a few."
    Can't buy everything.
    Thanks in advance.

A nice named tally of one of the major ships goes for 180 euros or so. They are not as common as just a few years ago.

The U-boat flotilla tallies are 250 euros and up, sort of depends on which one and the condition.

150 cm is the uncut length and they were cut down to around 110 cm before discarded for the most part. Any under 110cm really lose value.

There are three types, cotton, cellon and gold thread/wire. All are worth around the same although the first two types are issue and the third private purchase. The cotton tallies seem to be rarer to find.

All are faked so you need to be careful. Your Admiral Scheer is a fine period example.

The fakes are pretty easy to detect by looking at the reverse.
