HBT tunic resewn with KM eagle and KM buttons

Hello

I have found this jacket inside a wood trunk with other American and French WW2 uniforms. They come from an estate of a former French soldier, so out of collection.

It is an original jacket but which has been modified with the addition of an insignia and buttons of the kriegsmarine.

There are no buttons for shoulder boards.

Strange, so I need opinions please. Can it be a wartime modification?

Some work on this jacket ...why not period if you know the source as well ?
The upper pockets seems to be new to the jacket or resewn ? period ?

This jacket was found with a metal costal artillery badge on it. A french fabrication (Baqueville).

Tunic imo is an army signals one (collar patches are definitely heer signals, not KM coastal) adapted with a private purchase KM coastal eagle and KM buttons.
No way of knowing when that was done.
