Help needed M40 ET66 Lot 801

I need help on identifying the branch of service on a M40 ET66 Lot 801. Was it a Heer, Luft, SS, Police? Also by chance a SD or DD? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone in advance for your help.

Impossible to say for sure...Heat lot numbers were often duplicated...what does the helmet look like ?

I just wonder where this idea comes from that a lot number all by itself will tell you what a helmet once was.

It is a common misconception that needs to be repeated here on the forum every 2 weeks.

If you look at my lot numbers page (and list) you will see duplicate lot numbers with heer , Ss , LW and so on decals so the lot nr alone basically is useless.

If the paint is LW blue it is a Luftwaffe :-)

Panzer and Schwerpunkt thanks for the information! I did get some pics and believe it is a Heer. On the right side of the helmet I don't know what to make of it, paint splatter or remnants of a decal? I welcome all comments as to what it might be.

Strange camo helmet, not a reissue, looks to have had some kind of decal on starboard....looks like post war police duty, then post war camo.
