    Green police civic helmet value...

Forum members, I have a lead on a green civic police helmet with bordered eagle decal....First, I knew combat police helmets were green but didn't know green civic ones existed....Are they rare/more desirable than the black ones?...The guy says I can have it for $400, but I'm concerned that's too much....Paint and police decal are excellent, w/some wear and peeling to the party decal..Still about 90% left...Thoughts appreciated on potential value...Bodes

Usually green ones are earlier than black ones is my observation.
There are so many variants however it is hard to grade them on rarity , most are considered common and some variants will only be a must have for a die hard civic helmet collector. But it will not move the price much.
If you are looking to resell it I think you should go for less than 400.

Thanks Deathhead, Guess I had hopes the green ones were somehow linked to the combat police....Like perhaps lightweight use for officer or for soldiers w/head or neck wounds...Sounds like guy has set his low asking price at $400...Again thanks for the information....Bodes

You can see a bunch on my website , just one thing is it a single vent hole helmet or an M34 with the salt shaker vent holes ? I assumed the latter.
If it is an Edelstahl one 400 actually may be a good price as these were worn by units more closer to combat zones.

        Like this one ?

Frank is right, an important distinction as to type of shell. The edelstahls are linked to bad boy Polizei units that rousted up and moved human cargo in a most unpleasant way.

I have seen pictures of it and believe it has the same outline as the one you show here.....It's not a so called "square dip".....And yes it has the salt shaker vent holes.....He mentioned there aren't any noticable maker or size markings, but I could see size 56 on one of the liner's fingers....Also has the pad inside the dome.....Where is the Edelstahl generally stamped in the shell on these?....Bodes

Thanks Robert, Seems I've seen them using the WW1 era M16/18 helmets as well.....Bodes

If it is a salt shaker it is not the Medium duty type. More a civic used helmet then.
The single vent hole Edelstahl ones are not always marked as such , to make things even more complicated :-)

this is whre it gets super confusing.. I have also seen and owned a square dip black civil in steel stamped Edelstahl . The one Bodes shows looks black not green and has one of the many odd type rolls on the edge and smooth dip.

So to speak.. Green Civil non Edelstahl types are quite scarce also .

I resized the pictures and for some reason they didn't stay up?......

The outline of the shell is similar to the one posted by you (deathshead)....Vent holes are salt shaker design (2 per side) and I'd say the green paint is a darker shade....I believe police decals are original...Bodes

I would tend to agree.....The green civic helmets IMO were painted this way with some purpose in mind...At it's simplist, in an attempt to distnguish them from the more commonly seen black ones.....So question remains as to what purpose that was?......Bodes
