    My Almost Mint m42

After reading the other m42 forum with the mint field grey helmet I thought I would show mine off.... maybe someone will have issues with it too

It's not mint considering the rust spot on the inside where the dome stamp is, but it's my favorite m42 ND that I have owned. I love the white wash.

No decal late war helmets hold a special place in my heart. I have one of each m42,40, and a m35 reissued no decal. I love them all.

Nice helmet. You were kidding about being mint, correct? It's in nice shape, but it's nowhere close to mint.

Yes, I was referencing another thread where someone posted an actual mint helmet and somehow one or two people questioned its originality.

This one obviously has the rust spot in the dome which excludes it from being mint in addition to the fact it was probably actually issued. It doesn't look like it was pulled right from the factory but it's pretty damn nice.

Then again if anyone saw the m35DD lid on the estand being labeled as mint a couple weeks ago this helmet is closer than it ever was....

The word mint is being abused like never before. A mint item is in a pristine condition. This helmet is no where near that term. If it doesn't look like it was taken directly from the factory then it isn't in mint condition. Besides what you mention the helmet also have several dings and marks and the liner on this is also dirty so nothing on this is in mint condition

Looks nice. I think the strap is a humpback repo strap based on the pic.
