    M42 snow camo opinions?

M42 single decal helmet, painted with a snow camo. ET64, Lot 1483.
Just wanted to show this to get some opinions and thoughts on it. I think it is all original and unmessed with. Shame about the damage to the rim, however.

I’m not comfortable with it. Looks rubbed down to show wear. Not for me.

It looks like a ground dug helmet from the "blue clay" or swamps in Russia. The means the wear patterns, etc, do not look the same as on a regular helmet.

Thanks to all for looking. Yes, it was bought as a ground dug helmet, but the condition of the snow camo is remarkable. I am trying to decide on value - tricky because it is essentially a relic, yet it is a sound example of a fairly scarce snow camo helmet...?

A good original ground dug clay preserved helmet in my opinion, however I am not certain that the liner and chinstrap are original to the helmet. Regards, Bill

Agreed ground dug helmet new liner and chinstrap not very valuable $70 for the helmet and $50 for the repo liner and chinstrap. rob

Thanks for the feedback. Interested to know what makes you sure that the liner and chinstrap are not original? The pins are very tight and given the excellent condition of the whitewash camo, could the clay have preserved the liner equally well?

The rusted away edge of the helmet would be enough for me to pass. The chinstrap is a repo, the drawstring is as well. A better look at the liner would confirm if its good or bad, but would not expect to see a liner in that good of condition considering the rusted away edge of the helmet.
