          Not DAK at all

Sorry this helmet has nothing to do with the DAK. It is a war surplus unissued 2nd pattern. These were not used in Afrika though a few saw service in the Sud Front. Thousands of these were found at wars end and many were imported to the States at $14.95us each.

These are quite easily found in unissued condition as well Bruno.
Story goes a full container was found in the port of Antwerp after the war.
But nonetheless a wartime produced authentic example.

Not only was there the Antwerp find but thousands were also found in Naples after the war. Most DAK collectors just stay away from them...

so this is an( 2nd Model) felt tropical pith helmet made March of 1942

and for me its an mind helmet, so nothing to do with DAK, so DAK collecters please not look to this helmet

                  Bruno -
Felt piths were certainly issued and used in tropical areas - from Italy to Southern Russia. I think the lads were being a tad harsh on you, perhaps?
So - not a 'DAK' 1st pattern, faded canvas example, but still respectable and collectable in it's own right.
                  Regards,

Exactly! The advertisement was on the back of comic books. That is how I bought my first one in 1962.
