Another WW2 VISOR Cap for review!!!

Okay...This one is really off the wall...Looks pretty good (ignore the insignia unless it is somehow real)...I can't see anything really wrong at first glance, but take a look and see if you all can spot the odd parts(s).

Hi Ed, the insignia consists of really poor repros. But I think the cap itself is an original Heer cap? Look at the deathead there appears to be evidence of a wreath and cockade being there once?

It was not unknown many years ago for people to get an original Heer cap and to colour the band with a felt tip pen to change the colour from green to black. Often, for good measure, the white waffenfarbe would also get changed from white to pink

Talking of similar things, I know a re-enactor friend of mine who 20 odd years ago took an original Heer officers cap (Value then was under £75) and who removed the insignia and added a black velvet cap band to it to make a "Waffen SS" officers cap.

            Cheers, Ade.

Shame, looks like it was a nice cap once.

Thanks, that confirms my opinion! Lotta work for one hat.

If the piping hasn't been colored in, it's a quick fix - I can't tell from the scans.

                      Hi All,

The hat band looks like bottle green to me, and you can see where the wreath and cocard was too. Might be easily fixed. Hope so.

                        Yours,
OK, here's the trick as I see it firsthand...the green material on bottom is different from the green top-very light and really only noticable in hand...color of piping is slightly off top from bottom as well...I believe this was a real Built cap with insignia incidentally/intentionally added since it had Army cockade once...also visor looks to be resewn unless I am wrong
