his one is quite unique in that the decal has been painted around in a different shade of tropical camo.

Also initials of the owner on the inside brim, and traces of what may have been blood in several places.

Hi Ron

I could be wrong but it looks to me someone introduced some type of agent or chemical to uncover
the decal and they wiped it around the decal causing the paint to be altered.

I could be wrong, you have the helmet in hand.
I have seen it before though.

Great helmet Ron. What's the go with the 'short' end of the chinstrap? Never seen the buckle end long enough to end up on the brim of the helmet.

Acquired this one almost 50 years ago, and perhaps the buckle strap was a field modification to fit a specific need at the time (just idle speculation)......
