So, just to reiterate, it is a 'champagne' rune decal?

No not a champagne rune. I have never seen a good close up of the decal and would love to see it. I merely recalled the consensus of the knowledgeable collectors in the past thread and Bill Shea's susbsequent mea culpa. As a result, I assumed people recognized it as a fake and moved on. But I had no idea that some still considered it real. As I have said, I have not seen a close up of this helmet, so I personally don't know what to think of it. I would love to see the decal up close, especially with the amount of knowledge that has accumulated with respect to SS decals since the thread in 2005.

Why the helmet was not returned to Bill, who has said he would return the money?
Maybe someone had an interest in it to run in the market to earn more money from "less experienced" collectors ?
