DAK Decals with Palmtree?

Hi Schönbeck, here are my thoughts.
I have no confidence in this type of insignia on a helmet. Any decal I would say is a 100% bad, fantasy item. If the insignia was handpainted there might just be an outside chance it might be "original" but I would feel it would be something added more by an Allied Veteran as a souvenir peice than by a German soldier.
These DAK Palm tree insignias have been around since the 1960's.
Cheers, Ade.

W/o knowing the research conducted on the helmet, I would ask a question. If Sgt. Gillard was captured after obtaining the helmet, how did he end the war w/it still in his possession? My limited understanding is that most armies take a very dim view of contraband which has been pilfered or looted from their countrymen or allies, found on enemy combatants. Seems like the good sgt. might have found himself shot for such a transgression. Even if he wasn't executed, are we to believe the Germans allowed him to KEEP it while in captivity? Sounds kinda thin...
Best,
Matt
