    Beautiful Luft for review

95% sure I did good but always want to hear from the experts. So gents? What say you?
    Specs:
    M40
    EF62
    Batch no. 9683
    Liner is a 54
Decal is 95% (if not 100%)
Chinstrap is damn near mint, marked E.A.S 41 (or E.A.B 41?)
All split pins are tight, looks like a real un-messed with helm.
Named to an Obgf. Töpter (is it pronounce Topefter or topter?) can anyone find anything on him maybe?

So apparently the “ö” in the name is pronounced as in göering, so the name would be “Terfter”.... weird.... By far the hardest last name I’ve seen. Anywhere I can get info on Obgf.Töpter?

Beautiful indeed I love the bowl shape of the liner. Nice wear!

What do you guys think about the spots of color paint on the helm? Should I try and (gently) remove them or leave the helm as I found it?

Super Lufty and the naming pushes it over the top. Congrats...

Very nice Lufty 40. I would leave the paint scrapes, if you remove them you will remove patina from the area as well.

I think it may make it look worse. Stinks, paint splatter happened to so many this isn’t bad.

Thanks for the opinions on the helm gents! Now to try and find something on Obgf.Töpter, anyone have any resources as to where to start looking?

Another note, I’m thinking about untiring the liner string and opening up the liner to see if there is a unit mark, might narrow things down in the search for Obgf. Töpter

Heck no, don't remove it. Some dealers would call it a camo.

In a more serious tone, congratulations. It looks like a very nice lid.

As for looking up a German soldier, there are several threads/links on the forum already.

Very true haha! Yea I’m not gonna torch the paint. Could you link me to the previous threads on soldier research?

Does anyone think the name looks like Töpfer...? Think he went from an Obergafriten in 1940 to an Oberleutnant in 1944? Or maybe the does the rank abbreviation look like oblt.? I’m trying everything to match it to this man haha!
                            Hans Töpfer is a RKT
