    Help with apparent luftwaffe helmet

Hey guys my dad found this at a yard sale in Portland for 10 dollars and decided to buy it, I told him it looked like a bad fake to me but then I noticed a marking “DM66” on the shell, does anyone know of this is an outright fake or some kind of foreign helmet that was refurbed? Thanks in advance guys. This is actually my first helmet

Not even the shell is correct. Takes the cake for the worst fake I've seen in a while...

The shell appears to be a WW2 Hungarian M38 DM 62 produced for Finland but it would have had a squares steel attachment on the rear to hang on the soldier’s belt. Its probably been cut off. The rest is junk.

I meant DM66 (Datieren Mavag). The liner is post WW2 Finnish I believe.

And for 10 bucks you can always get that back.

Perhaps it was a movie prop helmet. The DAK battle scenes in "Patton" showed a lot of German troops from a great distance where accuracy would have been irrelevant.

It would be a perfect helmet for a reenactor if you re-drilled the liner holes in the correct spot. Not bad for $10.
