Strange marking

Hello.
I have to find this marking on a helmet and I would have wanted your help on the meaning.

I believe these are battalion references,,,I read somewhere that are mostly fakes since soldiers mostly only wrote their name and rank. Some equipment belong to the battalion like gas mask..these had their units markings present, helmets were personal no need for unit references..

Original examples with unit references exist but are scarce. Feldpost numbers however are much more common.
