Vet Buy Helmet with a Strache Decal

For quite some time I've stated that I had a friend that purchased a nice Transitional helmet with a period applied Ed Strache decal. Well I finally got to his house to take some photos.

This is a wonderful example of a reissued "transitional" with Schiffer-grau, coarse paint. The decal is a Strache and again, this is vet acquired. In the research that I did, I found most of the original period-applied Strache's were on the reissued "transitionals" and Model M42's.

Looks much different than this one. Even though yous has a severe printing defect the pattern of the feathers around the neck are completely different for instance.

Hi Perry and Tom!

I may have an explanation for a possible difference in decals. It would appear as if ES decals were produced in sheets of four. Therefore it is entirely possible that each decal was printed with a different piece of “art work” I say that not knowing the proper printing terminology.
