    Infantry NCO Hat; opinions please.

    Hello again to this forum,

You guys have been so helpful in the past, steering me away from bad or over-priced items, I thought I'd try you again. I have a chance to purchase this hat for $400. What are your thoughts on the hat and its value, please. Thanks, and sorry for so many photos, but I don't know what's important.

Its original. Wreath looks oversized, might be a replacement.

I agree about wreath,I have a earlyier cap 1936 by the same maker Georg Teufel, Sohn. $400 is not a bad price....HAPPY EASTER

The interesting thing about this cap is the variance of the chin strap and sweat band date, the latter of which I would infer was the date of manufacture of the cap, or perhaps the sweat band was replaced. These caps tend to be trikot as opposed to this Einheitstuch or Eskimo (??!!). The bulk of Tellermuetzen in my experience were made before 1939, and I have seldom seen one from wartime. Extramuetzen for enlisted ranks, or Eigentumsmuetzen are something else again. The absence of the Zelluloidspiegel is also interesting and puts me in mind of a wartime cap, perhaps? I have owned many of these in my life, but this is one slightly different.

                            I don't like the eagle.

My thanks to everyone; it looks like I had better pass on this one. Even if it's right, it's apparently nothing special.
