    maybe

    Hello,

Well, he has since passed away and restoring the helmet would be fun for me, but yes, of course money is a huge issue for a broke college student. Perhaps one day if I come by anything else of interest. Thanks to all who helped me with this thread.

      Q68

      Hello all,

The helmet also has Q68 stamped into the underside, can you please tell me what this means?

        Q - manufacturer company Quist.

68 - shell size. That's a huge one! Quite rare encountered.

If you look on the back side, you may find production series number. Inside the helmet, at quite the same height as the Q68 marking, but on the central back side.

Thank you for the fast reply. The other marking in the middle of the helmet is:

            326

Also, what would sandblasting do to a helmet? Would there be any negative effects on the metal? I would rather have old rust then the black Czek paint. Please let me know either way. Thank you.

                  William,
'Bead blasting' is the method by which most helmet restorers strip off old paint. Quick and safe.
