M-16 SA Helmet with Badge

I picked up this photo recently, and was intrigued by what appears to be a 3-dimensional swastika badge instead of a decal on the side of the helmet of this SA-mann. Can anyone tell me more about it?

The SA man belongs to SA Gruppe Westfalen.
They did use this kind of insignia on their helmets.
Me and Ken Niewiarowicz did use the photo you show in our book
“The helmet decals of the Third Reich”
