    M42 SD named

Just picked this up two hours ago. Was on Craigslist since November.

    Also see:

    http://www.warrelics.eu/forum/steel-...please-687545/

Evidently other(s) saw it but I live 30 minutes from the seller and got to see it in person. If anyone belongs to Warrelics please share with them.

Really really sorry for the photos. Camera is on the fritz and it is nighttime and I had to use indoor light. I had to shoot off center because there is haze in the lens.

Helmet came from seller's father-in-law. Native of Norfolk, VA, D-Day second wave, POW for almost a year. Now deceased. Seller has had the helmet for a long time. That's the story.

Today is my birthday and I think this is a worthy gift. (: I paid $200.00. (:

But if i got hornswoggled, let me know. Note the lot number 1901 with the first 1 partly obscured by a p in the name.

    Thanks for looking,

    Brian

last two; one shows a small chunk of crud which fell out of the helmet while being photographed; could have it analyzed to see if it is from Europe-ha ha

Plus 1 . . . but there should be a rule that if you post crap photos, no comments are provided.

It's almost 2018 for gods sake!

Sweet Jesus....the seller's pics on warrelics were crap and yours are only a tad batter than crap. I've said it before....we can put a robot on Mars that sends back high resolution pictures across 34 million miles of space but we can't get good light or focus on the kitchen table.

                      With that said....nice helmet BB75

Sometimes it pays off to take a chance on crappy photos. Congrats.

Better pictures of this humble helmet. Apologies for any consternation caused with the p---poor originals. I was elated and wanted to share my birthday gift.

Also, for more info on the man who brought it back, see below. I am thinking that the seller (very nice man - not the vet himself) was wrong on the second wave D-Day and that the vet was an artillery forward observer with the 3rd Armored Division which joined the turmoil and death in Normandy not too long after June 6. Provenance is nice for things like this and printouts of the WWW sites below will be kept with the rusty old SD helmet going forward.
