      Hi Sagatowski,

The cap is manufactured in "fish bone" material...characteristic for hot climates.

All patches are in black color.

The manufacturer is Carl Halfar (dated 1940)

      Regards,

      Ricardo.

Dont want to be an ass, but the cut of the schiffchen is very different to an army one....

Hi Ricardo, I have to agree with Chris. Not an Heer cap.

The black cap in Herring Bone Twill was not worn by the Heer. This pattern of cap was only worn by Luftwaffe ground crew as a working cap and the only insignia used was the Luftwaffe eagle, a national colours cockade was not applied. The cap was not intended for hot climates but was made from cotton so that it could be washed easily.

                Hope this is of help?

                Cheers, Ade.

Yes it is a luftwaffe mechanics style cap but there is the POSSIBILITY that it is a period conversion..from the fotos the insignia certainly looks correct and appears to me to have been on the cap for some time..while not the norm i wouldnt say it could not be.....

wow, one can learn something new on this forum each day . I just thought this cap was the same cut as KM schiffchen and that it has to be one km..So there is LW caps that has the same cut...are there anyone that can show me similar cap with LW insignia applied??Is the color black or blue??

                    Regards

                    Daniel

Isn't the cut of the KM overseas cap basically the same cut as the Luftwaffe OS cap? If so, a black mechanic's cap makes perfect sent. However, I am not sure that the cockade would be found on it for exactly the same reason as it should not be found on the Luftwaffe version. I'm liking the eagle, but don't have the same feeling about the cockade.

Ricardo, the cap on the left is the Luftwaffe mechanic's cap in HBT. The national cockade was not worn on it as they did not want to "soil" the national colors with grease and oil.
