Hi Paul, the odds are that the little decals are post war addet by the vet. Therefore,I would let them be. Who knows, if Robb gently soak them off theymay leave out a mark. IMO, the decals are part of this helmet history (they do look old as a matter of fact).

I´ll second that! A very fine camo helmet , with or without the swaz.

A very good point. That's why I asked.

Its just a little bit distracting having anything post-war added. A matter of personal taste. Had the vet in his later years decided to spice up this lid with a cheesy waterslide SS decal...that would still be a part of the helmet's history as well, and it would present an even greater dilemma in my mind.

I totally understand the good collector ethics of "less fiddling with, the better!" Aside from the decal...I really love the helmet!

it could also be that the vet grand children applied some plane model decals on the helmet, i would try to remove them , looks better on a dispaly when they are off.
